Time to catch up...

School was tough this first week, better the next, then break (2 1/2 weeks of school, then 3 week break). We flew to NC to enjoy the last summer visit with cousins & friends. We had Art from the Heart, the boys, Chase, Emily, Morgan & Lincoln all had a great time. I taught the 3rd graders and learned a lot myself. We squeezed in a beach trip and even looked at a couple houses! I so want a beach place!!
My sweet Shelby was so pitiful, she has a tough time standing, sitting & laying. She would be 16 this October. I made the tough decision to let her rest. I have been considering it for months, but selfishly wanted her to stay around forever... And she would try I am sure! I know I couldn't get up the nerve to do it, so I spoiled her rotten while home and on 8/15/13 my sweet Shelby went to Heaven where she can run & play and not hurt. It was way harder than I thought & still tough. But I did it for her, she did nothing but love me and I wanted her to not suffer anymore.
So we made it back o CO and started back to school. It wasn't as tough as the first day, but not too easy either. Cooper loves school, so I k ow we made the right decision putting him in. He just hasn't adjusted to not being with me everyday. He has mostly good days now, every once and a while he still tears up. Spencer doesn't like drop off, he is going to The Goddard three days a week from 9-12:30. I am not confident yet that he is learning what he needs to, but he is getting time away from me a few days a week which he needs. Spencer is attached to me right now, he literally has give in the same room as me. I seemed to remember Coop going through this phase, so must be the age.
We found out last week that Kurt isn't coming back to FRR next season. That really bums me out because Todd has one more season on his contract here. I have committed myself to that 2 year contract I my thinking, but not knowing who the driver will be is nerve racking. I had hoped Todd & Kurt could go somewhere together when the time was right. But Kurt time was obviously shorter than Todd's. The boys both started baseball with i9 sports. It is a casual, fun league & both have had one game. They both loved it. I am coaching Cooper team and helping with Spencer's... Should be fun!! Nana is coming tomorrow for a visit, so we are excited about that. Saturday is the last race to get into the chase and #78 is sitting 10th... A good week will get them in, but a bad week throws them out. Here we go.....

Tough week!!

Mom, Bobby & Chase drove out for a visit. 3 day drive, 9 day visit, 3 days back to NC. We had a great time & the boys played well all week. We went to Red Rocks, Dinosaur Ridge, Morrison, Estes Park, Rocky Mountain & lots of other fun things, even Horse Races! It felt like a bit of home out here... Great time!! They headed out Sunday so Cooper would have time to adjust before starting school Monday. Todd raced Daytona Saturday night, so Sunday we hung out & went to movies to see Despicable Me 2. It was a good day, but kinda moopy. Coop was quite & I was sad. Finally that night Coop broke down... Very upset crying & just kept saying he was 'sad' not for anything, just sad. It was pitiful, he didn't know why he was sad, just felt it. Monday AM we got up & ready for school, he was excited, but nervous. Todd kept Spencer so I could take Cooper. Being all new to us, we didn't know what to expect. All was good until it was time for me to walk away and that sweet little boy broke down and ran after me. My heart just broke!! I walked with him to class as he cried and Ms. Beth said I could come in for a bit. I only went in until he found his seat & told him I was going. That sweet sole said OK and I left. I of course lost it in the car & was a basket case by the time I got home. The helpless feeling of not being able to fix it, killed me. I worried & prayed & counted minutes all day. Melissa text me to say she saw him sitting by hisself at recess so she went to visit him for a bit. He was happy for me to pick him up... But the rest of the day & night he got upset even talking about his day, saying he just missed me and thinking about him still makes him sad. It breaks my heart to think about all his disadvantages, new state, new school, missing Kindergarten, etc. We talked & I told him I cried too, then we promised we'd not cry tomorrow.... So bless his heart, this morning he got up & ready and we headed over. He told me bye & gave me a sad little smile. But no tears... The minutes creeped by today & when I finally got to pick him up he was in a much better mood. He said he had a couple times that he teared up, but he told me all about the fun things they did. He talked SO much better, so I pray each day will get better for him. Now for me to accept this is the beginning of him growing up, then out.... Agh!! I don't like this. I want my boys back with me all day. Spencer starts Preschool tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes. This is a week I have not looked forward to, we'll all be glad to have it pass on.

Back in CO

After 6 fast weeks in NC, we are starting the 'move' to CO. With summer races here, we wanted to come out so we could see Todd. Since we don't go to the summer tracks, we can be here with him the first part of the weeks.
While in NC we.... Had a wedding weekend, attended Art Class, got new front doors & outdoor furniture, got in a wreck, Spencer took training wheels off, Cooper lost his second tooth, listed s couple houses, picked Strawberries, told my friend Cathy goodbye, celebrated Mother's Day, helped Kadi & Ian move in their new house, visited Conway, visited a Safari animal encounter, Lazy 5, went to the beach, Grandma surgery, etc.... and much, much more!! Time sure flies, but it amazes me how much I appreciate the little things more, knowing we were coming back out here. Nothing is more important than family & friends being your 'home'. One day we hope all 4 of us will be back to appreciate all we have in NC. Todd is working so hard to keep us financially a float and I want to support him in that. We are going to be where he is, but it still stinks it has to be so far away.
Cooper starts school 7/8 & I still go back and forth if that is the right decision... I so would like to keep him home schooled so we can travel with Todd & visit NC more often. But I really want him to experience 'school life' too. I also want Spencer to learn in a preschool environment. SO, I think we give it a try & if it doesn't work, we'll pull them out & teach him at home.

Conway Centennial

5/18/13
Kadi made it back from Honeymoon & Candie left for Canada. We finally had a week of what felt like 'normal living'
Thursday coming back with boys, Morgan & Emily from Art Class... Sitting at the stop light at Hickory Tree Rd, we got re-ended. The girl hit us & pushed us into the car infront of us. Everyone was ok, thank the good Lord. $4500 damage to the caddy. Friday we headed to Conway for the 100 year celebration. Once we got there, we pulled the boys in the wagon down to the Drug Store to get Coke Floats!! Stopped by the big Magnolia trees so we could climb!! All the things I did as a kid! Weese has been SO excited. Several of the family came Friday night & all visited and filled her house like years ago. Great Grandkids were running everywhere!! This morning there was a parade with Weese as the grand Marshall & the boys got to ride with Nana & Robin in the T Model. Then there was a Carnival at the school. Lots of fun... For all of us. Home to watch a rainy All Star Race!! Hoping to post again about a WIN!!

Texas!!

Just landed in Texas for the weekend! I have not been here in many years, maybe not since before Todd & I were married. We flew back to CO last Monday after Martinsville, but Todd was in Richmond testing, so he made it to CO Tuesday night. The boys had a great time with neighbor friends they hadn't seen in a while. Our house was the meeting place for all the boys. Wednesday we all stayed in CO... With 3-4 inches of snow & temps around 15 degrees :) lovely Spring :)
We left CO about 7:00 this AM to fly to Ft. Worth for the race. First stop was a Western Store for Spencer. New boots & hats for both boys!! Now relaxing on the bus for a bit before starting school :)

Wedding, wedding, wedding...
